Happy New Year!
I hope every family had a wonderful Christmas Break and a very Happy New Year. It was exciting to come back to school and listen to the wonderful stories and traditions shared by the students. Thank you also so much for all the very kind gifts - they are greatly appreciated!
In health and for reading, we are looking at the importance of sleep, and the negative health impacts of the lack of sleep. A wonderful New Year's Resolution could be for every student to get a minimum of 8 hours of sleep every night. Students have been learning about current research that shows that sleep can improve their creativity, the ability to remember information, and of course, their overall health.
In language we are looking at explanatory (informational) writing, by exploring how movies are made, and in math, we are beginning Geometry, focussing on measuring and drawing angles, and looking at the properties of different shapes.
Also, all the grade 6's will be going skating at the Minto Recreation Complex on Monday, February 5th, at 10:00 a.m. and also Monday, March 5th, at 10:00 a.m. Students must wear a helmet to take part, and parents are most welcome to come and join us for the hour.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns by writing me a note, or calling the school at 613-692-6164.
